From1979 to 1992 the LTA Museum at the All England Club sponsored an annual postmark which was applied at the London Special Handstamp Centre on stemped and addressed envelopes.
This 1984 postmark commemorated the centenary of the ladies’ championship but here the date in the handstamp was incorrectly set on 1983!
The postmark marked the re-opening of the Lawn Tennis Museum in 1985
This postmark marked the 100th Championship in 1986.
This postmark marks 60 years of BBC radio broadcasts and 50 years black and white TV coverage and 20 years BBC TV coverage in colour.
From 1979 to 1992 the commemorative postmarks were applied in the London Special Handstamp Centre and only during the tournament. In 1987 the play began Monday 22 June and ended Sunday 5 July.This cover being dated 22 JULY would appear to have been a mistake and it should have been dated the first day of the tournament the 22 JUNE and not 22 JULY.
This postmark and the stamp commemorates the centenary of the founding of the L.T.A.
